Located 15 minutes from El Prat Airport, Best Western Hotel Alfa Aeropuerto fits the bill for Barcelona, Spain convenience. So much so that my husband and I are staying here 3 times in 3 months.
We like the convenience of an El Prat Airport hotel. The 4-star Best Western Plus hotel offers a complimentary airport shuttle to seal the deal. As Best Western members, we also receive complimentary room upgrades, if available. In this instance, we had booked a king room. With only 2 suites in the 100-room hotel, we were not upgraded. However, the complimentary sparkling cava coupons and half bottle of wine in our room made us feel special.
The airport shuttle was easy to locate at El Prat Airport upon our arrival to Barcelona, Spain. We were tired from our international flight and thrilled to learn that our king room was available upon check-in.
The hotel staff were friendly and bi-lingual. My high school Spanish was helpful, but the staff quickly switched to English when I asked questions about the hotel restaurant and amenities.
Our king room, #420, was located on the top floor of the 4-story airport hotel. The Best Western hotel has 3 room categories: standard, premium and suites. We didn’t need an all-suite airport hotel, as we were not traveling with our kids this trip.

Typical of European hotels, we used our room key to turn on the electricity upon entrance to our room. The room included a flat-screen TV, a desk for writing, a safe, a mini fridge, and a bathroom. The bathroom had a tub-shower combination. While our room offered air conditioning, we took advantage of the ability to open the hotel window for fresh air.
Our three-star hotel room in Narbonne, France included cotton robes and slippers, so not sure how this 4-star hotel differentiates itself besides the indoor pool and on-site restaurant. Both my husband and I were missing the in-room robe and complimentary slippers, as we don’t bother packing those items in our backpacks.
Drinking and dining at Hotel Alfa Aeropuerto
As mentioned, we received complimentary sparkling wine vouchers upon check-in for our Best Western diamond member status. We headed to the bar, which is attached to the dining room. Dinner is offered at the airport hotel, but we haven’t tried it.
The next morning, we enjoyed the hotel breakfast buffet. On our visit, the breakfast cost 14.90 euros per person. It included hot meats, eggs, cold meats and cheeses, yogurt, fresh fruit, pastries, and breads. An espresso machine featured coffee, while tea and fresh fruit juice were also available.
Hotel rooms also include a kettle with coffee and tea available. Room service is available from 8:00 a.m. for an additional fee.
The hotel included an indoor swimming pool, as well as sauna and gym. Room rates range from 100-200 euros depending on time of year. Our same room category varied each of our three stays.
On-site self-parking is available for 9.68 euros per day. Valet parking is not offered. The hotel is pet-friendly, charging 22 euros per day per pet on our April 2024 visit. We’ll return to Barcelona and this Best Western Plus hotel in a month.
