Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel: Something for Everyone

"Hyatt Regency Monterey"
If author John Steinbeck had been traveling with his poodle Charley when the Hyatt Regency Monterey was around, the duo would have been happy campers. I can picture Steinbeck sitting around the firepit with his friends from Cannery Row, spinning tale tales and sipping a beer, his dog Charley resting at his feet. The Hyatt Regency is the perfect place for people traveling with their pets.

There is a one-time $100 pet fee at the hotel, that includes doggie treats, a pet bed, bowl and sign for your door reminding house-keeping to stay away. Even the restaurants have outside seating complete with heat lamps and a fire pit to keep you and your best friend cozy.

If you are in fact traveling without a pet, and wondering what else this hotel has to offer, you’re in luck. The Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel and Spa is a 22-acre resort complete with two heated swimming pools, Stay Fit gym, tennis, jogging trails, shuffleboard, an 18-hole golf course, multiple restaurants and the glamorous Marilyn Monroe Spa.

Monterey County is very aware of their water use in both the hotel and restaurants. While dining, you’ll have to ask for a glass of water as it is not offered right away. Also be sure to ask for a bathrobe or nightly turndown service, as those are also available upon request.

Now if a day in Monterey spent at Pebble Beach, followed by a spa treatment, dinner at TusCa Ristorante, a quick dip in the pool and finally, s’mores by the fire pit does not sound like an incredibly relaxing day, I don’t know what does.

The Hyatt Regency Monterey does have a $20 resort fee that covers Wifi, access to the 24/7 gym, parking, airport courtesy van, tennis courts with professional instruction and a daily shuttle to Fisherman’s Wharf. You can be car-free in Monterey!

Make sure to check in online and breeze through the hotel lobby and straight for the Express Kiosk. Just swipe your card and your keys and directions to your hotel room will be printed. Also, Hyatt Gold Passport members are able to choose specific hotel floors and all Hyatt members receive award points.

Room rates vary seasonally. My king room rented for $179 a night. Check the hotel website for current pricing. You can compare rates at Hotels.com.
