It’s tough to travel light when you’re on the go with kids in tow. Whether it’s a car seat, stroller, or baby bottle sterilizer, there are just some things families can’t take a vacation from. Martinhal Lisbon Chiado Family Suites makes packing easy, filling its Lisbon apartments with kid-friendly accessories, so parents can focus on enjoying their family time in Portugal’s bustling capital city.

Martinhal Lisbon Chiado Family Suites offers 37 apartments in a variety of studio to two bedroom configurations. The building dates to 1855, but has been renovated to offer all the modern conveniences traveling families have come to depend on. Apartment 102, a One Bedroom Deluxe Apartment, has one bedroom with a king bed. Double doors can be left open or used to provide privacy and separate it from the rest of the open living space.

The living area boasts a cushy sofa that’s more than big enough for a family of four. Two windows and two sets of French doors that open to a Juliette balcony, allow natural light to flood the space. (The French doors are kept locked for safety, but guests can get a key from the front desk to open them for air flow.)

One wall of the living area is dedicated to kid-friendly Murphy bunk beds, but much of the remaining space is dedicated to a well-stocked kitchen complete with full-size refrigerator, oven, microwave, Nespresso machine, and electric tea kettle, along with a clothes washer and dryer. Water, juice, milk and a box of chocolate chip cookies welcome parents and kids when they arrive.

Furnishings like the two bedside tables, the coffee table, and the dining room table and four chairs, have toddler-friendly rounded edges.

The bathroom is a tight space with a small vanity and single sink, along with a shower/bathtub combination. Below the vanity parents can find a variety of kid-friendly extras including a step stool and potty-training accessories.

Onsite MBar Café is open throughout the day serving quick meals and snacks. Every morning from 7:30am to 11:30am, a complimentary breakfast buffet with scrambled eggs, an assortment of meats, fruit, cereals, and yogurts is served. Families can also have select breakfast items delivered to their apartment at no additional charge.

During the day, parents have the option of leaving children ages six-months to 9 years old in the property’s complimentary Kids Club. The Pajama Club, offered every evening from 6pm to 10pm for kids ages 2 to 9, allows parents the opportunity to enjoy a kid-free dinner. In-room babysitting services are also available for a fee. A toy-filled family playroom is located steps off the front lobby. Unsupervised, it’s open to all guests and their children.

A Family Concierge team is available to answer questions about Lisbon and help with planning. Martinhal Chiado Family Suites is located a little less than a 30-minute drive from the Lisbon International Airport.

Rates for a One Bedroom Deluxe Apartment with a king bed and set of Murphy bunk beds, range from $303 to $757. Breakfast and Wi-Fi included. Parking is available for $29 a day. Compare rates at Booking.com or other hotel booking sites to see if you can get a better rate.
