La Quinta Cleveland Airport North: Easy Access to Downtown and More

la quinta room croppedWhen visiting Cleveland recently, we headed to La Quinta Inn Cleveland Airport North because we’ve never had a miss at a La Quinta on our yearly trips to Montana, particularly heading through Utah.

Although we were looking for a clean, comfortable, affordable place to stay with a decent free breakfast, the location caught my attention—then the framed artwork. For anyone looking for a hotel with easy access to Cleveland but not as expensive as downtown hotels, this La Quinta is one to consider.

One of train stops for Cleveland’s RTA stations is a quick walk from the hotel. The Puritas RTA is across the parking lot. This means travelers can reach an Indians baseball game, a Cavaliers game or a Browns game without fuss. Playhouse Square, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and Great Lakes Science Center are also easily accessible. The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is a short drive away.

Located off I-71 near the Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, the hotel is easy to find, and the free airport shuttle means that someone doesn’t need to get a car in order to take in several Cleveland offerings if arriving by plane. With free parking, free WiFi and a free breakfast, each entertainment option seems that much more affordable.

About the artwork—it’s a few notches above what I expected. Framed close-up photographs of lotus flowers and leaves give a restful vibe. Our room had several artistically arranged pieces to create a sense of balance. Like the art, the lighting was aesthetically pleasing as well. The contemporary furniture, from the beds to the chairs, was tasteful and comfortable.

Even though our room was located on the third floor on the highway side of the building, I didn’t notice any highway noise. I did notice how friendly and accommodating the staff was—like when my son came out of the bathroom and said, “Are there supposed to be towels?” The towel rack was empty but within minutes after calling the desk to inquire, towels arrived. We were also given extra shampoo when I thought the shampoo was lotion. The label had come off so how was I to know?

Hotel amenities include: a fitness center, a business center area, and a kiosk type store with mostly snack foods. Breakfast was fine, although no hard-boiled eggs. I remember hard boiled eggs from our La Quinta stays in the past.

Because La Quinta is a dog-friendly establishment, expect to see a dog or two.
