What was once a sleepy agricultural community, Corvallis, Oregon has turned into a thriving city thanks to Oregon State University and a bounty of boutique wineries, craft breweries and restaurants in the area. I was pleasantly surprised of the many things to see and do in the Willamette Valley during my stay at Comfort Suites Hotel in Corvallis.
After I checked into Comfort Suites, I took advantage of the self-guided public art tour on nearby Madison Avenue. Located on northwest 9th street, the Comfort Suites hotel is close to numerous restaurants and a local grocery store, as well. My room had a mini fridge and microwave, ideal for families visiting college students or those wanting to save money during a Corvallis trip. I would think this hotel would also be popular with traveling sports teams and business travelers, as it is clean, centrally-located to OSU and well priced. There is also a small business center for those requiring a printer or computer during their stay.
Family-friendly hotel
As is evident in its name, Comfort Suites is an all-suite hotel. Ideal for families, kids will appreciate the indoor pool and adults and teenagers will like the Jacuzzi and fitness center.
Rates start at around $100 and move up to $300 depending on time of year and different room types. Special rates are available for seniors, government and military employees and Choice Privileges Reward Night members.

I appreciate value-oriented hotels that don’t nickle and dime guests for charges such as wifi, a hot breakfast and daily newspaper. There is a nightly pet fee, but at $25 (check for current pricing) this is reasonable, as well. I didn’t eat breakfast on property, but the complimentary breakfast includes eggs, waffles, meats, fresh fruit and yogurt.
All rooms are non-smoking and include tv’s hair dryers, coffee makers, a desk, iron & ironing boards. There are also laundry facilities on site. There is ample free parking, as well as truck and bus parking. The facility is handicap-accessible with a braille elevator and a very friendly and helpful staff.
Book directly online with the hotel to make reservations or try one of the various booking sites such as Booking.com.
