With all of the resorts available at and near Walt Disney World, choosing the best resort for your family vacation is always a challenge. My family enjoys having dinner at Epcot nightly during our vacations, so our resort of choice is often Disney’s Beach Club Resort (located within walking distance of Epcot). Categorized a “deluxe” resort by Walt Disney World, Disney’s Beach Club is a family-friendly resort offering lots of great amenities and activities.
For families with older kids, or adults traveling without children, the Beach Club is in an ideal location. Epcot’s International Gateway (the back entrance of Epcot) is a quick five minute walk away. Disney’s Hollywood Studios is a longer walk or a short boat ride away. Buses are available for travel to the Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, or Downtown Disney. Disney’s Boardwalk, which offers various restaurants and activities, is also a short walk away.
The Beach Club is located adjacent to Disney’s Yacht Club Resort and shares a pool area, called Stormalong Bay. Stormalong Bay is one of the most popular water play areas on Walt Disney World property. It includes a large water slide, sandy bottom pool, regular pool, several hot tubs, and offers daily pool-front activities for kids. There are also nightly movies shown on the sand right outside the resort.
In addition to the restaurants at Epcot and the Boardwalk, the Beach Club offers a few on-site options. Beaches and Cream, an authentic ice cream shop, offers light fare as well as an ice cream counter. The Cape May Cafe, located right off the lobby, has a character breakfast in the morning and a seafood buffet in the evenings. There’s also a lounge that’s open in the evening and a pool-side snack bar. There’s also a quick service restaurant located in the gift shop on the first floor.
The Rooms at Disney’s Beach Club are great for families. The traditional rooms have two queen beds as well as a pullout couch that sleeps one. All rooms offer in-room coffee makers and refrigerators. The bathrooms have a small separate area with two sinks so one family member can get ready while another is showering. Suites and concierge-level rooms are also available. Like other Disney resorts, the Beach Club offers bell services, a concierge, and a resort airline check-in counter.
