Stay in the Heart of Downtown Los Angeles at Hotel Indigo

Lobby, Hotel Indigo Los Angeles Downtown

There was a time, not very long ago, when visitors wouldn’t think of setting foot in downtown Los Angeles. But times change, and the once forgotten about stretch isn’t just historic, it’s hip. The city center is booming and Hotel Indigo Los Angeles Downtown is in the heart of all the action.

A flagship for the brand, the hotel’s design draws its inspiration from the neighborhood it calls home. The lobby is modern and eye-catching, but take time to get a closer look and a visual history lesson of sorts on LA’s downtown area comes into view. Design elements incorporate everything from underground speakeasies and tunnels, to the movie industry, Jewelry District, Chinatown and more.

Guest room Hotel Indigo Los Angeles Downtown

Hotel Indigo Los Angeles Downtown is 18 stories and features 350 rooms. I stayed in a corner Junior Suite on the 13th floor. Spacious to begin with, the numerous floor-to-ceiling windows, filled the room with natural light and made it feel even bigger. (The blackout curtains are top notch, for when sleeping is the priority.) Along with a desk area to spread out all the gear that always seems to come with traveling, there was a sitting area complete with a table, chair and sofa. The headboard for the king bed had easy to reach electric plugs and USB ports hidden along its side. A generous mini-refrigerator, and a Keurig machine with coffee and tea making supplies, are both tucked away inside room furniture.

The bathroom had just one sink, but the marble vanity offered more than enough room for two to spread out. Fun black and white tiling covered parts of the floor and large shower, but with an entire exterior wall made almost entirely out of glass, the view was the big attention getter.

Hotel Indigo’s rooftop heated saltwater pool also sports city views. There’s plenty of chairs and cabanas, but for those who have trouble sitting still, the fourth-floor terrace also has a ping pong table and foosball table. The pool is open daily from 6:30am to 11pm, and in the evening, fire pits add to the fun. Just steps away, the 24-hour fitness center comes with views of both downtown and the pool area.

Located in the lobby, Metropole Bar+Kitchen is one of a handful of dining options at Hotel Indigo. Open from 6:30 am to 11pm, it serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A round-the-clock grab and go station by the front desk offers soft drinks, juice, fruit, and assorted snacks and candy. Along with panoramic city views, the top-floor cocktail lounge, 18 Social, serves small plates, cocktails, beer and wine from 5pm to 2am daily.

Hotel Indigo is walking distance to major attractions including the L.A. Live entertainment district, Staples Center and Los Angeles Convention Center. The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum is three miles away.

Junior Suite rates range from $279 To $799. Wi-fi is complimentary. Valet parking is available for an additional fee. Smoking is not permitted in any area of the hotel. Make your reservations directly with the hotel, at the IHG website, Booking.com or Expedia.
