SureStay Best Western is a Great Location Hotel
The SureStay Best Western Cebu City is one of the newest hotels in Cebu City, The Philippines. Opened last October, this hotel is a bright, cheery lodging option in the city’s center. It’s within walking distance of Fuente Osmena Circle. The abundance of nearby shopping and dining offerings, plus easy access to Cebu City’s sites makes SureStay a place to return to more than once. I stayed here three different times during my last Philippines visit.
The Staff is Warm and Welcoming
When I headed into the lobby after a few days trip to Dumaguete, the stylish modern furniture and lighting first caught my attention. This is a welcoming place. Over my several days stay, stretching between the days I traveled elsewhere, the staff was friendly and attentive. From getting my laundry done to booking my joiners trip to see whale sharks, the staff were helpful and accommodating.
I found out about the joiners trip from a flyer at the check-in desk. A joiners trip is one where an individual can join an already scheduled group trip. It was great to be able to connect with this whale shark adventure so easily when I decided to go just the day before. Also, whenever I needed a taxi, or when I went out for the day and returned, the staff always gave me a warm welcome and offered assistance. SureStay felt more like coming home instead of just a place to sleep.
Guest Rooms Provide Welcome Comfort
My Premiere King room was as stylish and modern as the lobby. The color palate of creams, yellows, and light wood tones create a cheery, restful space. Equipped with a refrigerator, electric tea kettle, hair dryer, microwave, wall mounted flat screen TV, bedside plug ins for cell phone charging and several lighting options, SureStay rooms are perfect, non-fussy landing spots. Along with the bed, nightstands, desk and luggage rack, this type of room’s small table and two chairs add extra comfort. There’s also a small safe.
There is plenty of drawer space and other areas to tuck away belongings. I found staying organized easy. The bathroom has a large walk-in shower and is clean, modern and spacious with counter space to spread out toiletries. Quality soap, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion are provided.
If you want your room cleaned or freshened up, hang the sign on the door that asks for that service. A couple times I didn’t remember to do this but asked for refills of the two complimentary bottles of water and coffee packets. I received them in minutes. Also, ask for chamomile tea bags from the desk staff. Tea bags are complimentary, but you do need to ask.
In addition to my room type, other rooms include: two double beds, 1 queen bed, two single beds, three single beds and two room suites.
The Included Breakfast at SureStay Best Western
Over my several days stay, breakfast was exactly what one hopes. Offerings change each day to bring different flavors of Philippine favorites. Garlic rice and plain rice are offered daily. Go for the garlic rice. It’s delicious.

Bangus, a lovely fish (and one of my favorites), longanza, a pork sausage, corned beef, and tocino, a sweet, cured pork are a few of the meats on the menu served buffet style. Whatever the offerings for the day, this is freshly cooked food. There is also some sort of egg dish, fresh fruit, a few dry cereal options, juice, coffee and bread to toast.
What’s to Eat Nearby SureStay Best Western
Because this is a new hotel, any dining besides the breakfast isn’t available. There is a space for a restaurant off the lobby, but that is not in place. Still, there are plenty of options nearby. I walked to the 7-11 for a few beers that I kept in my room refrigerator. If you like flavored potato chips, by the way, try the Lays seaweed version. Really good. A few doors down, Bo’s Coffee has tasty food options. A variety of spaghetti make an inexpensive and good dinner. Bo’s Coffee is basically, the local version of Starbucks and quite good. Jollibee is close by as well. Here’s where inexpensive fast-food hamburgers, chicken and spaghetti are favorites.
If you want a rooftop bar with dining and an infinity pool, head to the Lex Hotel. It’s within walking distance. This hotel is another one of my Cebu City go-to stays. I switched between this hotel and SureStay Best Western. For nightlife fun, head to Mic Check Family KTV. This karaoke establishment was an inexpensive food, beverage and entertainment combination.
I booked my stays through Hotels.com. If you are a Best Western rewards member, you’ll want to book through the BW site to get your loyalty points. Rates range from $45 to $85. When I head back to Cebu City, I’m certainly staying here for a few nights.
