Exactly like nothing else is the tag line for Autograph Collection Hotels. Tetra Hotel is the newest California hotel added to the independently owned and operated luxury hotel collection. The Sunnyvale hotel is part of the Marriott International portfolio and its international appeal is evident upon check-in. From the signature restaurant to the Japanese whisky bar and California open air design, Tetra Hotel from the Autograph Collection will appeal to locals and visitors alike.
The centrally-located hotel is accessible to San Jose International Airport, California’s Great America, Winchester Mystery House, and too many tech companies to mention. This, in addition to Levi Stadium and Shoreline Amphitheater, among other attractions, makes it a no-brainer for business or pleasure.
We noticed the international vibe upon entering the Tetra hotel. It was particularly evident during our dinner at Adrestia and by Nokori bar. Different languages were softly spoken at surrounding tables with dialects ranging from French to Japanese and Persian. I like to think that this Autograph Collection hotel’s clientele was as wide-ranging and diverse as their cocktail list.
The sleek design throughout the property reflects understated elegance with high-tech and high-touch elements. The Nexus area connects two properties, Tetra Hotel & Marriott Sunnyvale Moffett Park. It’s a place to sit and relax or join in a game of Jenga or corn hole.
With 186 rooms and 14 suites, all the rooms are bright and airy. We stayed in a corner king room that conveniently looked down onto our Airstream trailer. We were traveling and called ahead of our arrival to approve our special request for trailer parking. Without batting an eye, the general manager approved our “wide load” parking requirement. You’ll want to call ahead if you have any special requests, but hotel management certainly has that “aim-to-please” attitude and it shows.
From the silver walnut wood floors to the wool rugs and polished marble, every hotel room is serene and stylish. For those of you who appreciate high-end bathroom amenities, you’ll like the Min New York shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion. I would have snagged another travel-sized body lotion if we’d opted-in for housekeeping services. I also liked the hooded robes and jersey knit slippers tucked in the closet.
My husband liked the in-room coffee set-up by Oakland-based Coffee Manufactory – also available in the downstairs coffee shop of the same name. A tea drinker, I preferred the Harney and Sons tea selection. During our visit, I also fell in deep chocolate love with the salted caramels that are for sale downstairs. It’s clear that this Autograph Collection hotel is building partnerships with local companies and food vendors.
A little more about the dining options at this Autograph Collection hotel. Adrestia restaurant offers Asian flavors and Japanese ingredients with a California twist. The table next to us made their meals entirely of appetizers and shareable main courses. I had my eye on the fish special – a whole fish cooked to order – but was happy with my New York strip steak and truffle potato puree. My husband raved about his Wagyu burger, and, to be honest, it was outstanding.
If you enjoy whisky, try the Suntory highball machine at Nokori Japanese Whisky Bar. I wish I’d saved room for the Japanese-inspired tapas, but I’d reached my caloric quota with the flourless chocolate cake from Adrestia restaurant.

To burn off the calories, I took a swim in the terrace pool. Heated to 80 degrees, it was the perfect location to lounge or swim a few laps. There was also a fitness room with several Pelotons, treadmills, elliptical & rowing machines, and free weights. If you prefer walking or running outside, try the nearby Shoreline Trail.
Rooms at Tetra Hotel start at $159 on weekends and $249 during the week. There is no resort fee and the property even offers yoga and live music at certain times. Pets are allowed for an additional fee. Valet and self-parking are available, as is an electric car charging station.
