The Scoop On Romance: More Stays with the R Factor

In honor of Valentine’s Day, here are more stays we’ve discovered where the romance factor is turned up a notch. Add these gems to last year’s V-Day round-up and you’ll find enough romance to last you for awhile. The selection is wide ranging. From Amish Country in Ohio to Israel and Hawaii, we’ve traveled where love is in the air.

Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay

For Buzzy Gordon, Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay with its private enclosed courtyards, including outdoor shower and plunge pool and Hacienda El Carmen in Mexico, with its in-room plunge pool are high on the list on romantic getaways.

Of course, it’s the people who we are with that are often the reasons why a hotel or inn holds special meaning. The Neve Shalom Guest House run by the Oasis of Peace, a community in Israel between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, holds special memories for Buzzy who spent time here with his wife enjoying the views of the Ayalon Valley.

Nason Suite at Pine River Resort

When Mary Jo Manzanares looked for a rustic and romantic getaway close to home, she found it at Pine River Ranch in Leavenworth, Washington. Hikes in the woods, a dip in Lake Wentachee and enjoying the sunset from the deck of her upscale cabin were some of the highlights. The cabin was equipped with a propane fireplace, a “jetted tub crafted from river rocks” and other Pacific Northwest touches.

Highland Haven Blue Spruce Cottage

Rustic and romantic suit Diana Rowe as well. She recently found her R&R with her husband at Highland Haven Creekside Inn in the mountains of Evergreen, Colorado just 30 miles from Denver. The Jacuzzi tub, moss rock fireplace and the inn’s wood features created an ambiance of “Colorado chic.”

Aulani-Ka-Maka pool

Michele Sponagle discovered that romance can be found at a family-friendly destination. She headed to Aulani, A Disney Resort and Spa in O’ahu, Hawaii with her significant other wondering if excited children would be the central feature. Instead, she discovered that the resort’s 21 acres provided  plenty of space for families with kids, as well as, couples looking for some “we” time–and “me” time. Michele’s “me” time included making a body scrub at the resort’s Laniwa Spa. The resort has adult only dining options where kids can hang out with supervision elsewhere which gives mom and dad some “we” time as well.

A gas fireplace is in every unit at Donna’s Premier Lodging

Jamie Rhein went on a romance trip alone at Donna’s Premier Lodging in Berlin, Ohio.  Smack in the middle of Amish Country, Donna has been serving up romance for 25 years and has several add-on options to up the romance factor. Chocolate, rose petals, candles, wine, an in-room massage or spa treatment and an Amish buggy ride are possibilities. Each room, from a one-room cottage to an upscale cabin, has an in-room heart shaped Jacuzzi big enough for two and a fireplace. Next time, Rhein is bringing her husband.
