Unwind at the All-Inclusive Hideaway Hyatt Ziva Cancun

Hyatt Ziva Cancun review

By Ilona Kauremszky

Away from the bustling shops and the buzz of downtown Cancun, my beach towel and I have easily decompressed experiencing two beaches at one of the newest luxury all-inclusive resorts to hit this side of sunny Mexico.

At the Hyatt Ziva Cancun the beach relaxation was only part of my recent visit. The other was to sample the all-included posh finds, of which, there are many.

Hyatt Ziva Cancun

To some Cancun sunseekers, the Hyatt Ziva Cancun might look familiar. That’s because the property, which is ideally situated at the tip of Cancun’s 7-shaped peninsula, has undergone incarnations. This vacationer’s playground debuted in 1975 as the Camino Real with its pyramid-style architecture designed by Ricardo Legorreta. But most recently the resort was a Dreams Cancun before officially opening in 2016 under Hyatt’s growing Ziva portfolio.

Now from one of Cancun’s oldest hotels expect a totally new resort, re-imagined and redesigned in this US$85-million renovation. Owned and managed by Playa Hotels & Resorts, Hyatt’s luxurious Ziva Cancun will no doubt satisfy guests of all ages. The biggest surprises: a microbrewery, a candy shop only a Willy Wonka might dream up, an historic lighthouse, duo beaches, resident dolphins, and spa pools with ocean views.

Thanks to the Hyatt Hotels and Playa Hotels & Resorts partnership, the all-inclusive vacations experience is getting a massive reboot that brings effortless indulgence front and centre. Nowhere else in Cancun will vacationers find Tres CerveZa’s, the resort’s signature microbrewery helmed by a brewmaster from Mexico who once worked in Munich, home of the world’s biggest beer festival.

The Rooms

Hyatt Ziva Cancun Guest Room

A WOW factor radiates everywhere. The stunning suites are situated in three buildings: the new Adults-Only Tower, the Club Tower for all ages, and the Pyramid Tower. “We have many room categories. Some people like ocean views. Some enjoy more activities. For adults probably the swim-up suites in the Pyramid Tower and the floating swim-up suites in the Adults-Only Tower are a hot seller. We also have a Club Tower with extra amenities like butler service, a private concierge, a lounge and a private check-in,” says Alexandre de Brouwer, General Manager at the Hyatt Ziva Cancun on the extraordinary guest offerings in this all-inclusive beach fantasy.

From the moment I arrived to this swanky locale on the tip of Punta Cancun the quality service was evident. As de Brouwer candidly remarks, “Our staff is very proud of this hotel. They really genuinely care for the guests with our Service from the Heart ™.” Clients are immediately met by the hand on the heart gesture, a symbolic salutation that is across the Hyatt Ziva and its sister brand, the adults-only Hyatt Zilara.

On my afternoon arrival I was welcomed with a refreshing chilled juice and after the seamless check-in a porter escorted me to a spacious ocean view room. My Ziva Pyramid Suite blended modern Mexican with urban classics from the flat-screen TV to the sumptuous hand woven Mexican tapestries. Inside the marble bathroom I turned on the rain shower and contemplated my next move. With services galore like turn-down, in-room dining, and pool butlers, I left all the hotel details to the staff and escaped to one of the beaches before dinner.

As I sipped my cocktail with white talc sand between my toes, I spotted a gazebo overlooking the turquoise sea. Yup – morning yoga occurs there as do dream weddings.

Now there are more reasons to unwind at the Hyatt Ziva Cancun.
